Alid
The Alid dynasties descended from Ali ben Abi Talib, son-on-law of Muhammad.
There are several dynasties of Alid origin:
- The Zaydid dynasty of Tabaristan are descents of Ali ben Abi Talib. His son, Hasan ben Ali, has a son named Zayd ben Hasan who gave name to the dynasty. Haan ben Zayd was the son of Zayd who gave origin to the Zaydids in Tabaristan.
- The Sulaymanid dynasty of Yemen has origin in Hasan ben Hasan, brother of Zayd ben Hasan (see Zaydid dynasty above). Hasan has a son named Daud ben Hasan, who was Sulayman ben Daud's father, who the dynasty is named after.
- The Alid dynasty of Yemen originated with Hasan ben Hasan, brother of Zayd ben Hasan (see Zaydid dynasty above). Hasan has a son named Ibrahim ben Hasan, that has a son called Ismail ben Ibrahim, father of Ibrahim Tabataba ben Ismail. Tabataba was father of Kassim al Rassi, originally of the dynasty of imams of Yemen.
- The Alid dynasty of Sharifs of Sus originated with Hasan ben Hasan, brother of Zayd ben Hasan (see Zaydid dynasty above). Hasan has a son named Abdallah ben Hasan, who has a son called Djafar ben Abdallah, who began this dynasty.
- Tha Alid dynasty of Sharifs of Morocco has same origin, but the first member was Muhammad ben Abdallah, brother of Djafar ben Abdallah (see above).
- The Idrisid dynasty of Morocco came originally from Idris ben Abdallah, brother of Djafar ben Abdallah (see above).
- The Hammudid dynasty of Algeciras, Malaga, Sevilla and Grenada has same origin. Their ancestor, Hammud, was descent of Idris ben Abdallah.
- The Banu Katuda of La Mecca have origin in Musa ben Abdallah, brother of Idris ben Abdallah (se above). Musa has a son named Abdallah ben Musa, father of Musa ben Abdallah ben Musa, who began this dynasty. From this branch also came the Banu Fulayta.
- The Banu Salih of the old state of Ghana originated in Salih ben Abdallah, brother of Musa ben Abdallah ben Musa (see above).
- The Sulaymanid dynasty of Sharifs of La Mecca originated in Sulayman ben Abdallah, brother of Salih ben Abdallah (see above).
- The imams of Alamut began with Husayn ben Ali, son of Ali ben Abi Talib. The line was: Ali, Husayn, Ali Zayn al Abidin ben Husayun, Muhammad el Bakir eben Ali, Djafar el Sadik ben Muhammad, Isamail ben Djafar, and Muhammad ben Ismail.
