Angus Ogilvy

   

The Right Honourable Sir Angus James Bruce Ogilvy, KCVO, was born on 14 September 1928 in London, England. He is the younger son of David Ogilvy, 12th Earl of Airlie and Lady Alexandra Coke, the daughter of Thomas Coke, 3rd Earl of Leicester.

He became a peripheral member of the British Royal Family through his marriage to HRH Princess Alexandra of Kent, only daughter of HRH Prince George, Duke of Kent and Princess Marina of Greece and Denmark. The wedding took place on 24 April 1963 at Westminster Abbey in London, and was attended by many members of the Royal Family.

Sir Angus and Princess Alexandra have two children :

Angus was created a Knight Commander of the Royal Victorian Order in 1989 by HM Queen Elizabeth II, his wife's first cousin. In 1997 he was granted a knighthood and made a Privy Councillor.

As Princess Alexandra undertakes Royal duties, Sir Angus sometimes accompanies her. He also attends major royal occasions with his wife. However he missed the funeral of Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother due to ill health.
