Cross River State, Nigeria
Cross River is a state in southeastern Nigeria. It was created in 1967, and was known as southeastern state until 1976, when its name was changed to Cross River. Its governor since 1999 is Donald Duke. The state is ethnically diverse, including Efiks, Bekwara, and Ejakam inhabitants. The state has experienced tensions between ethnic groups as well as border clashes with other states, particularly Akwa Ibom. Most of the inhabitants of Cross River are Christian.
