Idiopathic
An idiopathic disease is one for which the cause has not yet been established. Among the medical establishment, the term idiopathic has come to be a euphemism for "I don't know" – a so-called "two-dollar word" [1] (http://www.somatics.de/Scoliosis.html). The originally intended meaning of the Greek roots was "a disease of its own kind", taken from the Greek idios (own) and pathos (disease) [2] (http://www.intelihealth.com/IH/ihtIH/WSIHW000/35320/35328/343487.html?d=dmtHMSContent).
Examples of idiopathic diseases include scoliosis (fully half of which is idiopathic [3] (http://www.somatics.de/Scoliosis.html)), pulmonary fibrosis, and hypersomnia.
