Jimmy Blanton

   

Jimmy Blanton (1918July 30, 1942) was an American jazz double bassist.

He came to attention in Duke Ellington's band, and was a virtuoso player who in many people's opinions reinvented the double bass.

Blanton died of tuberculosis.
