The King of Spain serves the office of the Crown of Spain. The current King is His Majesty Juan Carlos I. If a woman would inherit the throne, the title would be "Queen of Spain."

The King is the head of state and the commander in chief of the armed forces. His power is mainly symbolic, because all his acts must be approved by either the President of the Government or the President of the Congress of Deputies to be valid. However, he has some reserve powers, such as appointing up to 52 senators.
