Kovel (In Ukrainian and in Russian: Ковель), Kowel (Polish) is a town now situated in western Ukraine in the Volyn oblast. It has a population of 62.9 thousand (2004). Kovel is the north-western terminus of the Ukrainian rail system. This is a continuation of the same line built in 1877 that links Kovel with Lublin and Warsaw in Poland.
