Quenland
Quenland or Cwenland is a pre-historic region at the Northern Scandinavia Scandinavia where the Finnish people of Quens lived. The region is often identified as part of today's Northbothnia and Ostrobothnia, nearest the coast of Gulf of Bothnia. (In general, Quenland would probably mean northern Scandinavia exclusive the Sami-inhabitat regions.)
Sagas told about the kings of quens. Egils saga tells about Norr, founder of Norway, and his ancestors who lived in Quenland.
One of the few sources about Quenland is Norse sagas and on Account of the Viking Othere. Also Finnish Kalevala-tradition folklore knows Quenland with a name Pohjola. Today Pohjola is Pohjanmaa ostrobothnia. The original name of Quenland comes from the Finnish region of Kainuu.
