Later with Jools Holland

Later with Jools Holland is a BBC rock music show running from 1992, hosted by Jools Holland. The title derives from the programme's late-night slot, usually around 11 PM. The show features around five bands with a variety of styles performing for each other and a small studio audience. Jools Holland introduces the show and interviews one or more of the performers. Special editions broadcast on New Year's Eve are referred to as Jools Holland's Hootenanny. Repeated excerpts from the show have been broadcast under the title A Little Later.

Later with Jools Holland is distinguished from otherwise similar television music shows, thanks to the jam session involving all of his invited guests, along with Holland on piano, at the beginning of each programme. Holland often also accompanies his guests' performances.

Later DVDs include 10 Years of Later...30 great live performances (2002), Later...Louder (2003), and Bjork - Later with Jools Holland.

Because of Holland's relaxed and confident presentation and the diversity of musical styles the series is seen by many as a fitting successor to The Old Grey Whistle Test.
