- XP-59 – 1942 October 1 first jet-powered aircraft to fly in the US.
- P-59 Airacomet – first fighter aircraft built in the U.S. during World War II.
- P-80 Shooting Star– early 1945 it became the first operational jet fighter used by the United States Army Air Force.
- FH-1 Phantom was a twin-engine jet fighter aircraft designed during World War II for the United States Navy
- F2H Banshee A mock-up of the new fighter, designated XF2D-1, was completed in April 1945.
British
- Gloster E.28/39 – 1941 May 15 became the first jet engined aircraft to fly in the United Kingdom.
- Gloster Meteor – 1944, July 12 Entered Service with the RAF. Saw action for the first time on July 27 1944 against the V1 Flying Bomb.
- De Havilland Vampire was the second jet engined aircraft commissioned by the RAF during WW II.
