Meurthe
Meurthe is a former département of France. Its chief-town was Nancy.
History
The département was created on March 4, 1790, during the French Revolution, out of a part of the former province of Lorraine.
It was divided into 5 arrondissements in 1800. Its sous-préfectures were Château-Salins, Lunéville, Sarrebourg and Toul. The département had 714 communes and a population of 428,387 in 1866.
