Romanian presidential election, 2004
Presidential elections will be held in Romania on November 28, 2004. If needed, a run-off will take place on December 12.
The 2004 presidential election is held simultaneously with the legislative election. According to the 2003 amendment to the Romanian Constitution, the presidential term is now five years instead of four, meaning that in the future, legislative and presidential elections will be held separately.
12 candidates are competing for the office of President of Romania. Adrian Năstase and Traian Băsescu are credited with over 30% of the votes each, and are set to qualify for a run-off.
