Ryton-on-Dunsmore

Ryton-on-Dunsmore is a village in the Rugby district of Warwickshire, located just to the South East of Coventry, England.

The A45 road passes through the village, whose biggest employer is a huge car factory.

The factory was originally owned by the Rootes Group, which produced Hillman, Humber, Sunbeam and Singer models. Significant cars produces by the Rootes Group include the Hillman Imp, Hillman Minx, Singer Chamois, Sunbeam Tiger and Humber Sceptre. But it was taken over by the Chrysler combine in 1970 and between 1976 and 1979 all cars produced at the factory were badged as Chryslers, with their French derivatives being badged as Simcas. Chrysler UK produced cars like the Avenger, Horizon and Alpine. When Chrysler sold its European division to Peugeot in 1979, all cars produced at the factory were badged as Talbots, a name which had been scrapped more than 20 years earlier by the Rootes Group. The Avenger, Sunbeam, Horizon, Alpine and Solara ranges were all carried over from the Chrysler marque. Peugeot developed two new Talbot cars, the Samba mini-car and the large Tagora saloon, but graudally began to phase out the marque until it was finally withdrawn on passenger cars in 1986. Peugeot continued to produce the Talbot Express van until 1991.

The Henry Doubleday Research Association has a large show-garden dedicated to organic gardening in the village.
