Scribonia

Scribonia was a daughter of Marcus Scribonius Drusus Libo and Cornelia. Cornelia was a granddaughter of Pompey the Great and Roman Dictator Lucius Cornelius Sulla. Scribonia's grandfather Lucius Scribonius Drusus Libo came from a senatorial family. Her brother of the same name was consul and died in 34bc.

Her first marriage was to a consul Publius Cornelius Scipio. They had a daughter Cornelia Scipio. Octavius later married her in 40bc, in a political alliance with her great-uncle Sextus Pompeius.Their daughter Julia Caesaris was born in 38bc, a few days before their divorce. She was older than him.

Octavius divorced her to marry Livia Drusilla. Octavius couldn't stand her nagging and the way she used him to threaten others. She never remarried.

She died in 16ad, in exile after her daughter's death. By modern historians she is considered as an ideal Roman matron. She went into exile with Julia because she felt guilty of being a proper role model for her daughter.
