Southern Europe

   

Southern Europe is a region of Europe. It is also known as Mediterranean Europe, after the bordering sea, the Mediterranean Sea.

It has no precise definition but is generally taken to consist of:

France

Southern France, Monaco

Iberian Peninsula

Spain, Portugal, Andorra

Italian Peninsula

Southern Italy, Vatican City, San Marino

Balkan Peninsula

Albania, Macedonia, Serbia and Montenegro, Romania, Bulgaria, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Greece,

Mediterranean States

Cyprus, Malta

Sometimes, Monaco is also included in Southern Europe since it is located on the Cote d'Azur or the French Riviera on the Mediterranean Sea.

EDIT: As well as Southern France, also known as Occitania.
