Star Forge

Star Forge: A creation of the fictional Star Wars universe told of in Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic.

A dark side artifact that was created by the Rakatan Empire 24,000 years before the original film trilogy took place. A giant automated shipyard, the Star Forge drew matter and energy from a nearby star, creating a basically endless supply of ships, droids, and other war material.

As an artifact of the dark side, the Star Forge corrupted those that use it, feeding its desire for death. The Star Forge was responsible for the corruption of Darth Revan and Darth Malak, who had been powerful and honorable Jedi Knights up until they discovered the Star Forge.

The scale of the Star Forge is massive, with the only thing within the Star Wars universe of appropriate size to measure it against being the Death Star. Capital ships can easily move in-between the gaps of the three 'fins' that radiate outwards from the central spherical structure. While having no apparent docks for capital ships, smaller craft on the scale of the X-wing or Millennium Falcon can dock at bays located on each of the three 'fins'.

Externally, the Star Forge possesses no defensive weaponry of any sort, instead relying entirely on its massive ship production capability as a means to defend itself. Internally, it was capable of manufacturing droids for defence, coupled with heavy blast doors that ran throughout the entire facility.

As is the case with all apparent products of Rakatan engineering, the Star Forge managed to survive several tens of thousands of years idling and without an operational crew by relying on its built-in automated repair systems.
