The term synchronizer can mean more than one thing.

  • In automotive engineering, a synchronizer is part of the drive train of a vehicle.
  • In electronics, a synchronizer helps prevent metastable states by re-clocking signals.
  • In film editing, a synchronizer is a device for aligning multiple film strips in a replay or editing device.
