The Punisher (movie)
The Punisher is a 1989 movie starring Dolph Lundgren as Frank Castle , directed by Mark Goldblatt from a screenplay by Boaz Yakin. It is based on the Marvel Comics character the Punisher.
It was filmed in Sydney, Australia and also featured Lou Gossett Jr, Jeroen Krabbé, Kim Miyori, Nancy Everhard and Barry Otto.
Plot summary
Frank Castle is the Punisher and lives in the sewers after his family is killed his only friend an old alcoholic named shakes (Barry Otto). Meanwhile two crime families prepare for war and fight for control of the city the Mafia headed by Franco (Jeroen Krabbé) and the Yakuza by Lady Tanaka (Kim Miyori), in the midst of the carnage a couple of cops one a former partner of Frank Castles Jake Berkowitz (Lou Gossett Jr.) and a fresh faced young female (Nancy Everhard) seek out the mysterious punisher to ask him why he would punish the guilty.
When Tanaka kidnaps the kids of Mafia men including Franco's son, we find out just how far he will go to save an innocent life, will the Punisher give Franco his just deserves?, and see what happens when highly skilled Yakuza Ninjas come across the Punisher and his semi-automatic. To sum it all up "Thats funny"
Another movie based on the Marvel Comics character was released in April 2004, starring John Travolta as the villain, with Thomas Jane as the Punisher.
