The USMC War Memorial (often called the Iwo Jima memorial), a statue depicting the raising of the flag on Mount Suribachi during the Battle of Iwo Jima, is on the grounds of Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington County, Virginia, just across the Potomac River from Washington, D.C.

It is dedicated to the lives of United States Marines given in service to their country since 1775. Nearby is the Netherlands Carillon.

The statue, sculpted by Felix de Weldon, was cast in 108 pieces at the Bedi-Rassy Art Foundry Brooklyn, New York, taking some three years to complete. It is about six times life scale.

An American flag flies on the USMC War Memorial 24 hours a day - one of the few sites where this is permitted. The memorial was formally dedicated by President Dwight D. Eisenhower on November 10, 1954, the 179th anniversary of the Marine Corps.
