University of Wales, Bangor
University of Wales, Bangor (UWB) is a constituent institution of the University of Wales based in the small city of Bangor in the county of Gwynedd in North Wales, United Kingdom.
The university was founded on October 18, 1884 and moved to new buildings in 1911.
It has a franchise cooperation with Mediterranean College located in Athens, Greece.
Dr. Samuel L. Braunstein, a well-known quantum physicist, works there researching subjects such as quantum computation and quantum teleportation, and Professor David Crystal OBE, a well-known linguist and author, is an Honorary Professor of Linguistics (and part-time lecturer) there.
It was also the venue of the Maharishi Mahesh Yogi's 1967 lectures in Transcendental Meditation, at which The Beatles learnt of the death of their manager, Brian Epstein.
