Digital camera
Digital cameras, as opposed to film or videotape ones, use an electronic sensor to record the (still or moving) image and sound, as a piece of electronic data. Nowadays, cameras are multifunctional and the same machine can take photos, video or sound.
Nowadays, digital cameras are included in a lot of devices, like cell phones.
Photography
Digital photography cameras (or a multifunctional digital camera with photo mode), rather than as chemical changes on film. Nowadays, this cameras are more sold than the film ones, can take video and are included in a lot of devices, like the cell phones
Video
A video camera (or a multifunctional digital camera with photo mode) can be classified in two ways:
- Professional video cameras, such as those used in television production
- Camcorders and webcams used by amateurs. The handycams generally includes a 2.5 " LCD display.
Connectivity
Many cameras connect directly to a computer. For this the connectivity the ports integrated in the camera (USB, Firewire, WiFi ) and memory card slots are very important.
Storage
Computer and autonomous devices
The cameras can store the pictures, the sound or to be used like a webcam. They can store the data in the hard disk or in a computer DVD recorder.
They can be connected to a autonomous devices too (without the need of a computer), like a printer, using the PictBridge standard without the need of a PC. Or to a DVD recorder.
Integrated storage
For photography, cameras includes internal or flash memory. To store video, they integrates a DVD recorder.
