X Window Display Manager

The X Window Display Manager (XDM) comprises the default display manager for the X Window System. It is a barebones Display Manager for X, and because of it's lack of configurability, users running the GNOME, KDE or Enlightenment Desktop environments/Window Managers tend to use GDM, KDM or Entrance instead of XDM. The Advantage it has is that it comes bundled with X, and therefore, users don't need to download and use a large Desktop Enviroment to use it, as they do with GDM and KDM
